One of the fundamental principles of ICTA's Code of Professional Conduct relates to professional competence and requires all members to maintain their professional knowledge and skill and to adopt a programme of continuing professional development.
Currently ICTA requires 40 verifiable CPD hours per annum. The following is examples of verifiable CPD:
How will ICTA monitor members’ CPD?
The Institute relies on the integrity of its members; ICTA does not require that members submit proof of CPD hours. The Institute, however, may from time to time randomly select members to submit their CPD schedule cards for verification.
Why is CPD important?
Generally the public have high regard for professionals and they expect these professionals to adhere to high standards of intellect The knowledge required to function effectively as a tax professional in public practice, commerce, education, the public sector or any other environment continues to expand and change at a rapid rate. The increase in the complexity of tax legislation has resulted in the expectations that tax professionals worldwide must increase their knowledge and skills, as a result of aspiring to meeting these expectations, lifelong learning is critical for the tax professional.
